Bründlmayer Winery Palletizing

Cardboard palletiser for the Bründlmayer winery

Langenlois – The renowned Bründlmayer winery has been focusing on automation and efficiency. In collaboration with packaging specialist Profipack, they recently put a new palletiser into operation. What makes this palletiser special is that it is the smallest robot cell that Profipack has ever built.

The winery has modernised its packaging line by installing a new robotic palletiser. This customised solution impresses with both its performance, processing up to 400 cartons per hour, and its compact design. With a footprint of only 5.8 square metres, it is the smallest robotic cell that Profipack has ever built.

The system processes two different types of carton:

6-bottle cartons with upright wine bottles

and 6-bottle cartons with horizontal bottles.

Thanks to the flexible robot technology, switching between product types is quick and smooth — ideal for the needs of a modern winery.

The following technology has been installed in this system:

PROFIROB robot palletiser

PROFITRANS container transport

Robot palettizer

Profipack opted for an especially space-efficient solution for automated palletising: a compact 6-axis robot with a 70 kg payload that can handle both cartons and pallet feed. The system is equipped with a specially developed suction head gripper, including an integrated pallet gripper, and can be implemented in an area of less than 7 m².

To accommodate different bottle formats, the system is designed for two layer patterns. The robot precisely rotates the containers and positions them at a defined distance from the next unit using only two stoppers, eliminating the need for mechanical clamping. To prevent potential damage in the event of a backlog, soft roller chains have been deliberately incorporated into the transport area.

Safe and efficient robot protection area:

To make optimum use of the limited space available, a high-speed door was chosen instead of conventional muting light barriers. This eliminates the need for an additional safety distance without compromising occupational safety. Despite the limited available space, a powerful, safe and future-proof robot cell could thus be integrated into the winery's existing infrastructure.
